Also other people have been having problems to successfully download the client. Example here's one thread about the subject (http://boards.lineage.com/showthread.php?p=147221). Using the FTP program worked in that case, but you might want to try also those downloading programs I linked in that thread as well as checking up the other tips I gave in there - maybe they help.

You may want to try LineageOne.com's download of the Lineage client found here - http://lineageone.com/en/play
The page has the download locations for both their hosting and NC's official hosting of the client for Mac and PC.

First of all, welcome back after all those years!

You're right, Lineage does not work at all in 64-bit XP or Vista out of the box. But there is a way to get it running, at least many has been able to. To get Lineage working with Vista 64-bit, they have done the following:
Download (http://boards.lineage.com/showthread.php?p=147221) and install the Lineage client.
Download the fix for 64-bit Vista (https://mall.shinsegae.com/interface/object/npkcx_vista.cab) originally posted by Samwise (http://boards.lineage.com/showthread.php?p=149731#post149731). More sources in this post (http://boards.lineage.com/showthread.php?p=167321#post167321), if that link does not work.
Scan the file with your virus scanner just to be sure there's no meanies in the file.
If the scanning came out clean, unpack the file into the folder of Lineage client.
Run the game as administrator (http://boards.lineage.com/showpost.php?p=158483&postcount=5).
Hopefully that turns out to be working also for you.

Well yeah, there has been quite a lot of changes and new content if it's been that long you last time played, hehe. So lots to explore and keep you busy in the game for good amount of time. If you want to browse a bit from web what's new, you might check out LineageDB (http://www.lineagedb.com/), LineageWiki (http://wiki.lineagetimes.com/index.php?title=Main_Page), new Lineage Library (http://www.linlib.com/), posts of LineageOne (http://lineageone.com) and also official site has small summary of the latest update (http://www.lineage.com/game_guide/episode_6_u/). But the more interesting way of course is to join in active pledge (http://boards.lineage.com/showthread.php?t=11388) and ask if they could show around in a form of pledge hunts or something :)

So you're old TheCult & Illuminati member then! When Chronos was quitting the game, we merged into Myrdin's Unicorn (Myrdin is now playing Conal in Ken) and after that the people has mostly either quit or scattered around. Chasseur I last heard went back in Dep, but not really sure if he's still playing nowadays. I am still playing on/off tho and seen also Fornax time to time and some months ago one of us came back (http://boards.lineage.com/showthread.php?t=10535) and is still playing I think, so there's still some of us left.
The pledge I am in is not really recruiting at the moment and is currently kinda smallish anyway, but there's lots of good people in LoA. For you this would be perfect time to get to known some of them. I'd recommend pledges such as Truthseekers (http://www.truthseekersbp.com/) and TheRegulators (http://theregulators.blogdrive.com/) as they have good people in amounts of being truly active, so it makes it easier for you to get hang on all of the new stuff.
But again, good luck and welcome back!

Not completely sure what's causing that. Are you getting that error when you try to unpack the Vista 64-bit fix into your Lineage folder and it's saying some file cannot be overwritten? Sometimes files are left open for some reason and then they cannot be deleted/wrote over etc., but restarting computer gets rid of that.
So try to restart your computer that should get rid of the file lock, then unpack the fix file again into your Lineage folder. Hopefully this gets it rolling.

Hmmh... I have not used Vista much, but it seemed to have same kind of system as example Ubuntu has for it's access control, where by default you have separated administrator account/mode. As you have to run Lineage as administrator to get it running in Vista, it could be you cannot manipulate it's files without being admin. Try to log in as administrator and then do the unpacking + overwriting.
Another thing that comes into mind is to check if the files the unpkacking tries to overwrite is set as write only. You can check by first looking what files are in the fix file, then go in Lineage folder and right clicking the files and looking from the properties if there's crossed the read-only selection. I kinda doubt this tho as my installations of Lineage seems to have the files as writeable.
I hope the cause is that first option tho; the User Access Control system in Vista that you have to get around. I'm sorry to say, but I'm afraid this is as much my knowledge can go in this one :(
Maybe here's some people actively using Vista who could be able to help you more.

Just did read this again. At what point you're getting the "access denied" error?
When you're overwriting the files with the content of that fix file?
If this is where the error comes and you tried to log into administrator account before trying to overwrite the files, then I do not know what's the problem.
Or after you've successfully overwritten the files in Lineage folder with the content of the fix packet and trying to launch the game?
If this is where the error happens, are you running the game as administrator as I mentioned in earlier post?
Several people has gotten the game working in 64-bit Vista with that fix package and running the game as administrator, so it can be done. Just not sure what's the problem in here :-/

Are you logged in as administrator?
Another thing you can do, (though I am unsure if these steps are the same in Vista as XP) is right-click the folder you are trying to make the changes to and go to properties and see what the permissions are set to.
The above seems trivial to me as you should have full reign over a folder that you have installed but you never know I guess.
I have a machine that runs Vista though it does not currently run Lineage nor do I know if it is 32 or 64 bit as I type so when I get some time shortly I will try to replicate these steps and see. It's not mine and I can't stand Vista so I never really took the time to experience such errors lol.

Okay so my Vista machine is 32-bit which is useless to try on as I know it will work simply by choosing to run as administrator.
I have worked the errors out of 32-bit before so I know I won't be able to replicate your issue so here goes trying to talk it out :P
Did you follow this exact?
Lineage will run on 64Bit but you have to make some changes to nprotect in order for it to work. The version of nprotect included in the game download is not compatible with 64bit. Here's how you can get it to run on Vista 64:
So for anyone still having trouble with getting Lineage to work on 64-bit Vista, and are getting a 3e5 error I have found a fix. Download the file at this link and open it with WinRAR: https://nprotect.ncsoft.co.kr/nProtect/keycrypt/npkcx_vista.cab (https://nprotect.ncsoft.co.kr/nProtect/keycrypt/npkcx_vista.cab)
Then copy all of the files except the .exe and .ocx file and paste them into your lineage directory choosing overwrite and replace when prompted. Voila, Lineage should run correctly at this point.
Thanks Appleseede, your previous post about this file is what got me looking in the right place although I couldnt get your link to work for some reason. In case my link doesn't work either, you can get to it from this link as well: http://www.wonderfulsolution.net/npr...keycrypt-error (http://www.wonderfulsolution.net/nprotect-keycrypt-error)
The reason why I ask is based on the above, you are only suppose to grab only some of the files inside of the zipped folder. Grabbing one that you're not supposed to could throw an error for some reason.
On the flip side of things I still wonder if you're permissions are set funky. You can see those by going to My Computer and then Right-Clicking on the C:\ Drive and going to Properties. From there click on the tab that says Security. That tab should show a list of users and the administrator identities for doing tasks on the machine. The Administrator should have something in () saying something like the name of your computer or your user name when you first turn the machine on and it logs you in. For example administrator(mycomputer123). Might not be exactly laid out like that but similar. Highlighting that user should then give a list of the permissions allowed and not allowed. If not then highlight it and then click edit and you will see them. Either way the Administrator/(Your main user login) should have full permissions and only one permission should be unchecked at the bottom of the list (you can't check it on so no worries).
If that is all fine then I am stumped for the moment. When the machine logs you in at start up, you are the main user? Or you log in as the main user?

Now that I read one of the other threads, someone else had an error like the one you are getting. They never posted after that however.
I would suggest possibly un-installing Lineage and then restarting your machine and doing a fresh install.
