vista 32bit freezes at login screen
as the title shows im on windows vista 32bit. i have downloaded and installed lin just fine. but 4/5 times when i try to log on the game freezes at the login screen. it forces me to reboot my computer i can not ctrl alt del cannont alt tab. the mouse and keyboard all lose function.. iv read some stuff in the forums but all i see is info for 64bit. can someone please help. i just bought the game after like 6 years of not playing and i cant even play. i was able to get to character creation screen once then got a connection timed out, and have not been able to get in without freezing since.

Later tonight I can try and install Lineage on my Vista machine and see if I can recreate your issue.
I've installed and played on 32-bit before and have never had that issue so I will try it on this machine. |

There is a fix available from NC but I can't find the link anywhere under the support system.
If you PM me your email address I will email it to you. Just a few files you extract to your lin directory and it stops the vista login bug. Seridove can you possibly add a sticky here for this? I did a search and lots of people been having the same problem. If you cant find the files I'll send to you also... but I downloaded from plaync support about 7 months ago so you should still have access to them.

The Vista_cab they took off nc's page for some reason feel free to scan it for virus you wont find anything. Instructions 1. download to its OWN folder and extract 2. DELETE all .EXE and .OCX files (i think there is 3-4 total) 3. copy the remaining files i think there is 6-7 and place in your lineage main folder ie. c:..../game/lineage 4. It will ask if you want to replace say YES ENJOY CRASH FREE LINEAGE!!!! Last edited by landofaden; 01-05-2010 at 11:51 AM. |

Just fyi, this is the list of files in the fix I downloaded:
INICRYPTOSDK.dll npkcnt4.sys npkcrypt.dll npkcrypt.sys npkcrypt.vxd npkcusb.sys NPKCX npkpdb.dll Wonder why it got removed from support site? It's seriously the only way I was ever getting lineage working on my laptops...

Don't think you need NPKCX.inf.
Also the first 2 seems not to be used by L1. Does it work with just those 5 files? npkcrypt.dll npkcrypt.sys npkcrypt.vxd npkcusb.sys npkpdb.dll

great thanks!! ill try that when i get off work. i found something last night that i think is the same as you posted. but when i extracted it to the lin folder my winrar said all the files were denied and nothing got put in. so ill try again and see what happens.

alright i followed ur instructions on deleting the .exes and it all moved properly. ill try to see if it crashes when ig et home thanks so much!!!

Holy God, I had no idea this existed. I thought I was just screwed and had to live with crashing my computer all the time or live without Lin.

They should sticky this post to the top because I had a hard time finding this same file a few months back when I got new cpu.
